Who are Hansgrohe?

Hansgrohe are a very well-established, German based, globally-successful brassware manufacturer. As a recognised brand worldwide they stand for quality and robustly built products that look magnificent and are built to last. Founded in 1899 by inventor Hans Grohe in the small Black Forrest town of Schiltach. Hans began producing sheet metal showers, and would go on to develop the first hand shower, in 1928. Today they are recognised as a market leader in bathroom brassware from iconic taps and shower kits, and the essentials such as bath fillers to shower wastes.

Hansgrohe have a genuine and well-earned reputation for eco concern regarding water usage in their final products and throughout their manufacturing processes. The Financial Times Germany heralded Klaus Grohe, Hans’s youngest son as a “Green Mind” as he played an active role in the company from 1968 onwards. Klaus Grohe became a kind of mentor in the sanitary industry speaking on issues of sustainability and environmental protection decades before today’s global concern over climate change. Nowadays, the Hansgrohe group are committed to operating and considering sustainability on all of its production sites. Hansgrohe are observant in pushing themselves to reach greater conservation and sustainability goals, by the end of 2017 they achieved water efficiency of +10%, increase in the efficiency of hazardous waste by +5% and energy efficiency overall by +2% in their own head offices in the Black Forest, Germany. They don’t rest on their laurels and are constantly striving to innovate and do better.

Hansgrohe Select Buttons

Hansgrohe are constantly innovating well developed ideas and upgrading their product offering to give the nest performance possible. The award winning Select button was developed as an easy to use, simple ergonomic and intuitive, communicative button. It has been incorporated into multiple Hansgrohe products making them easier to use for children and less abled people, but also general greater convenience for example when washing your hands a simple push of the select button at the top of the Talis S Select tap will activate the water to rinse your hands, this has been brought across to their kitchen mixers, the pull out spray with select button means you can fill a pot with one hand! The select button on their shower system helps filter between different spray types, or different showerheads with ease. Manufacturing Excellence

Hansgrohe have market leading production centres, with specialist departments, dedicated staff and state of the art factories. The start of the product journey begins in their foundry, this is also the basis of their high-quality brassware, the brass-foundry, where the finest quality materials are selected and a mixer bar is cast in a special mould, with personal care and attention taken over every single finished piece which is hand inspected at multiple stages of production. Sand baking and centrifugal casting ensure a flawless product. These casting blanks are then worked into a pristine gleaming brass mixer body, perfect down to the millimetre, ready for polishing and plating. Surface processing is where your tap comes to life, dipping and protecting your tap with a durable robust chrome plating.
